![]() ![]() ![]() As the real Shelby cars eclipse $200k, these cars will naturally slide in behind. We like the many of the details here, but especially the K-code classification. The 4-speed is a great transmission, and the T5 5-speed adds drive ability and requires no cutting. We like the stock look right down to the steering wheel and shift boot. Theinterior is one of the cleaner we have seen. This is a clean modification on any 65-66 fastback. This car also has SHelby quarter windows in place of the factory vents. The Magnum 500 wheels are okay, but Torque Thrust and Vintage Wheel Works units are the preferable choice. That “K” in the 5th position of the VIN is the key, and “R” in the second position means the car was built in the San Jose, California plant as all the Shelby fastbacks. Set them up with performance modes but no Shelby stripes so they can be reverted to stock when the values eclipse driving sensibility. With Shelby clones routinely fetching $25k, we think that authentic K-Code cars are the preferable buy. ![]() This one wears blue California plates from the early 70’s and it is available here on Craigslist in Auburn, California for $29,950. This K-Code fastback is one of the rare Mustangs which included the 271-horsepower solid lifter V8.
